Tinder or hoof fungus (Fomes fomentarius)

Fruiting bodies: January - December
Area of infection: trunk / crest
Wood decomposition: white rot
Comment: Fruiting bodies can be as wide as 50 cm. Dried nice as decoration.
Effect: Aggressive wound parasite / weak parasite - enters through injuries to the tree.
Recommendation: Tree should be evaluated.
